Put Some Colour In Your Life TV Show Sponsored by Chroma

Chroma is a proud sponsor of this fantastic new television show that promotes arts and education across Australia

The TV series Put Some Colour In Your Life brings Art, Education and the Environment into Australian living rooms, promoting Artists via television and the web.

The series goes to air Sunday the 18th of March at 7.00pm, on the channel 4ME.

Artists of Australia are finding it harder to market their work these days, with over 40% of galleries having closed in the last four years. To address this, artist Graeme Stevenson has created an all new Art Show for national TV called ‘Put Some Colour In Your Life’.

The show centres around finding artists around Australia, documenting where they work and the techniques used to create their amazing pieces. A recent show presented Madeliene Ekeblad of Macleay Island, who founded the Onward Motivational School for Artists. Madeleine was only too eager to participate, saying “it was one of the best things I have ever done, and already I am getting results.”

The weekly show links to the Colour In Your Life website. The website hosts artist information, works, blogs, and educational sessions, and is FREE to anyone to join up. If you’d like to see more of the website, click here.

Colour In Your Life has previously been aired on public television on channels such as digital 64 and community channel 31 in most Capital cities. The show has been nominated for a Logie in the category ‘Most Popular Light Entertainment Program’.

Nothing like this has been done before in Australia. Most artists just don’t know how to make people aware of what they’re doing. Colour In Your Life will change that. We are creating a library of the minds and talents of Artists. If you want to be part of the library, come on board with Colour In Your Life.

Contact Colour In Your Life on any of the links below, and make sure you put some colour in your life!

    Hi everyone,
just wanted to let all of the Artists that come into the Chroma site
that the series colour in your life and the idea of showing and selling
your work through the medium of TV is working.
There have only been two Artists thus far go to air in the last week and
they have both sold their paintings and had a large amount of interest
in their work. As the site grows larger and the country understands that
this is a great way for them to see Art being produced, it will intern
drive many people into the system, so that everyone's work can be seen.
If you haven't signed up on the site www.colourinyourlife.com.au you
should, as this will be a place that your work will be seen

Recently the Colour In Your Life team travelled 1,248 kilometers from Murwillumbah to Junee. The Junee Correctional Centre is a medium/minimum security institution for males located 450km south-west of Sydney and 40km from Wagga Wagga.

On arriving at their destination the Colour In Your Life Team were greeted by the wonderful staff of the Junee Correctional Centre who have helped make the initial project possible. Much preparation had gone into actually making this happen and an enormous amount of community spirit and organization to create such an event.

The center has an education partnership with TAFE NSW Riverina Institute, which allows training programs to be delivered by qualified and industry experienced teaching staff. Courses offered include commercial cooking, hospitality services, small business management, literacy and numeracy, computer studies, distance education programs, Aboriginal culture, automotive studies, basic engineering, rural studies and visual arts.

It was an early start to the second day of filming which was also a big day for the inmates. Graeme and the team were greeted by 25 inmates in the Gymnasium, which also has a section used for visual arts. Over the course of the day the Colour In Your Life team conducted a series of different art workshops, teaching the inmates different painting techniques that they would be able to practice and utilize in their daily life. There really was a sense of joy in the room when the guys were painting, as some of the inmates had not even picked up a paintbrush before.

The TV show went to air on National TV - 4ME on Sunday the 16th September at 7pm (AEST).

This week, Colour In Your Life features the finely detailed work of artist Rebecca Brady. “Society, conformity, the quest for perfection and beauty are the foundations of my art making practice. These ideas have a direct relevance to my life and provide a reflection of the world around me. In my works, colour can be seen as the symbol of vibration, an intense experience which expands the mind and creates possibilities. I believe that when colour is interpreted in its purest state and is seen as vivid and dramatic, a new creation can be made. As an artist, designer and mother, I am interested in fusing colour, various materials and my ideas together to create an extraordinary world for the viewer to explore. As I continue to develop in my practice, my work continues to draw imagery from the human form, life and experience.”

Rebecca Brady was born in Sydney in 1977. Having had a passion for the Arts since a young age, Rebecca graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University Of Western Sydney. In 1999, she completed a Graduate Diploma In Secondary Education from the Australia Catholic University, Strathfield.

In 2004, Rebecca opened the first artist run art studio and gallery in the Bankstown area. Her love of Art History and Education has also seen her continue to work as an Art Teacher at various schools across the state of NSW.

Since her first exhibition at the Foyer Gallery in 1997, Rebecca has continued to create and exhibit works including exhibitions at Penrith Regional Gallery, Tap Gallery, Darlinghurst, Art Moment Gallery, Bondi, MLC Gallery, Ultimo and Sydney Art 09 at the Royal Hall of Industries, Moore Park and more recently at Fairfield City Museum and Gallery. Rebecca is now establishing herself as a designer, fusing art and fashion together. Her first range from her collection Rathenart was launched for summer 2011.

This wee on Colour In Your Life, host Graeme Stevenson shows off his incredible watercolour techniques. Born June 29th, 1958 in New South Wales, Australia, Graeme Stevenson began painting and studying animals and even at a young age had a tremendous fascination with the world around him. He began breeding Australian Parrots, and in his teen years took up the ancient sport of falconry. As his interest in art began to grow, he used the birds that surrounded him-his pets- as subjects for his paintings. After obtaining his pilots license, he began to explore the vast areas of Australia, photographing, sketching, and eventually painting the exotic animals of this land. His reputation as an artist began to grow and his one-man and two-man exhibitions were greatly successful. Graeme then began travelling to other parts of the world to study his subjects and to display his work. Africa, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Europe, U.K., U.S.A., Mexico, Canada, Alaska and the Middle East, Pacific Islands, were some of the places to which he ventured, receiving offers from publishers who produced his works in limited edition.

In 1988 he was commissioned to produce all of the paintings for the book The Atlas of Parrots, one of the largest editions of its size in the world. This Book is displayed in the New York, Paris and London Natural History Museums. Graeme eventually decided to turn his imagination and his art ability in a new direction.

Living in both Australia and the United States, he was able to study the many varied animals of America and to produce a series of paintings that enable him to explore different ideas and to present work that also has the ability to tell a story of the subjects that he paints. Graeme has appeared on the front cover of a number of U.S Art magazines and in 2000 was voted as one of the 25 most influential Artists, by U.S Art , to watch for in the coming decades He was also written up in International Artist as a Master Artist for his time. He also paints fantasy and romantic scenes of mother and child.

Now CEO and host of Colour In Your Life, Graeme is determined to put Art and Artists in every living room across the world.

    Barry Mason on
    Colour In Your Life

Tonight on Colour In Your Life we see the finely detailed work of artist Barry Mason. Barry developed an interest in art in his early school days in Orange, but it wasn’t until he moved to sydney at 16 years of age that art became a career path. Commercial Art & Design took him into areas of promotion, poster design, packaging design, cartooning and a close association with advertising and marketing.

Retiring from his Graphics business in Sydney, Barry moved to Lennox Head in 2000 and has now applied his background in Graphic Design and digital graphics to further his interest in the arts through painting. His works in oil, watercolour and Pastel are now selling through private buyers, galleries and exhibitions.

An early interest in photography took Barry to many areas throughout the rural and coastal areas of Australia, in a quest for subject matter. This long association with the Australian bushland and waterways remained with him and now reflect through his paintings.
Make sure you tune in tonight, channel 4Me, to see Barry's beautiful work.

    Kelli McGregor on

    Colour In Your Life

Tonight on Colour In Your Life we see the vibrant work of artist Kelli McGregor. Kelli McGregor is an emerging artist who began her artistic career later in life than most. Her experience in architectural design heightened her awareness of space and negative shapes and of the compositional dynamic they create. Kelli combines training in design with an unerring sense of the aesthetic to produce her striking figurative paintings. While they are essentially studies in composition and colour, her images convey a feeling of the warmth and energy that is evocative of the Australian lifestyle.
Her landscape paintings not only encapsulate the essential elements, colours and features of the Australian landscape, but also recreate the ambience and the 'feel' of being there. Typically, her work is exuberant, vibrant, confident and eye-catching. Most pieces are charged with positive energy, and overflow with dazzling colour.
Make sure you tune in tonight, channel 4Me, to see Kelli's incredible energy and flare for colour.

    Tania Heben on

    Colour In Your Life

This weekend on Colour In Your Life, Tania Heben shows Graeme some of her stunning pieces in beautiful far north Queensland.

Born in Germany of Russian parents, Tania arrived in Australia in 1950. After growing up in Queensland and before becoming a full time artist, Tania spent 17 years working as a nurse and midwife - a profession which enabled her to work while travelling extensively. This well seasoned traveller has spent time in Canada, Switzerland, England and behind the Iron Curtain.

During 1987 Tania moved to the Far North of Queensland which she feels was an experience which helped her "really see colour for the first time" and her use of brilliant colour is undeniably one of the most well known features of her work. Her works contrast vivid local scenes of people still influenced by the colonial settlement period of the 1800's with the lush tropical vegetation of the Australian Rainforest and Jungle. Tania's paintings have been described as "Gauuinesque" with the strong influence of both Matisse and Gauguin in her work.

"I love the drama and colours of Queensland and local people fascinate me as they are so much a combination of the old and new. By way of record, I want to capture the architecture of the old Queensland style buildings before they disappear.”

Tania's paintings are included in the private collections of many well known identities, and she has also exhibited in Beverly Hills, California, USA. .

    Rae Woolnough on

    Colour In Your Life

This weekend on Colour In Your Life, Sydney artist Rae Woolnough show's Graeme her incredibly unique work with textiles.

Rae Woolnough is an artist with a passion for textiles. Merino wool fibre and silk are the main content of her artwork, and she is constantly searching for new and interesting fibres and yarns to embellish her works.

She considers herself fortunate to live in Australia where good quality merino wool is plentiful in supply. Rae will often include alpaca, mohair, hemp, camel, silk, and other fibres into her work to create texture and dimension. The earth is a constant reminder to her of the mysteries of existence.

“It has witnessed aeons of change and speaks eloquently through its rocks, vegetation, and countless formations. The landscape is a recurring theme in my work, the textures and formations of rocks and vegetation are my influences. I am intrigued by the irony of using the soft medium of silk, fine fibres and felt to depict these hard forms.”
