Atelier Unlocking Formula
Atelier Unlocking Formula is an essential additive created to work with Atelier Interactive’s patented formula. When used on an Atelier Interactive painting, artists can reopen a paint layer even after it is touch-dry. Once the paint is reopened, new paint can be blended back in, existing paint edges can be feathered or whole sections can be removed with a rag, up until the time paint layers have cured. This can be a game-changer for artists who work on paintings over a series of sessions or who just want to soften hard edges or make colour adjustments. Atelier Interactive is only acrylic paint on the market that has this ability to be used for traditional painting techniques, or when combined with Unlocking Formula, used for revolutionary wet-in-wet painting techniques that oil painters use.
Unlocking Formula is also used for Tone Control. All acrylic paints darken slightly when they dry. The tonal difference between wet and dry paint is minimal for darker colours but can be quite dramatic for lighter mixed colours containing a large quantity of Titanium White. If you want to adjust light tone values and the painting is touch-dry, the painting will return to its wet values if you spray it with Unlocking Formula. This will allow you to make accurate wet-to-wet adjustments, because you are matching wet colour to wet colour. Best used with the Fine Mist Water Sprayer.
